Comedy Stylings with Mary Van Note
Comedy Stylings is both a live stand-up comedy show and a street style blog created by Mary Van Note as an effort to combine her two passions; Fashion and Comedy. Inspired from the blog of the same name, the live show brings together the comics who make Mary Van Note laugh, and whose personal style makes a lasting impression. Featured performers are Jesse Elias, Miles K., Jennifer Dronsky, Lydia Popovich, Josef Anolin.
Comedians are asked to wear their favorite outfits and are brought on stage not by a list of their show biz credits, but with details on what they are wearing. Come early (doors are at 7) and stay a bit late to shop vintage clothing from Mary Van Note's private collection as seen on her personal style blog and her etsy shop.
About Mary Van Note:
Mary Van Note is a stand-up comedienne of the weird variety. She performs at colleges, clubs and festivals across the country and she is the creator and star of the award winning Independent Film Channel web series The Mary Van Note Show: Gavin Really Wants Me. She was a SF Weekly’s Masterminds grant recipient and an Andy Kaufman Award semi-finalist. She is also obsessed with all things vintage and posts regularly on her personal style blog at www.maryvannote.com/blog.
“A Gracie Allen for the new millennium, Van Note’s comedic styling is truly unique, as she combines elements of raunchy slapstick with charmingly innocent self-deprecation.” – Flypmedia.com
“Kaufman-esque.” – Jesse Thorn of The Sound of Young America
“Van Note’s film shorts reminded us of Andy Samberg’s digital shorts for SNL, but darker. Like all good comedians, she makes us laugh by being brutally honest. She’s crude and vulnerable at the same time. And she’s hella funny.” – SF Weekly
