Tuesday and Laura present: Estrogen Entree with a Side of Balls
Tuesday Thomas your host and co producer is a student of the world, and the world is a harsh teacher. Through her travels, she has learned the hard way that the Deep South isn’t worth living in, her ex-husbands aren’t worth marrying, and that laughter is sometimes pretty good medicine. She now lives in San Francisco, where she is an odd fish in an even odder pond. She would like to be able to say she doesn’t suffer fools. But, unfortunately, she does. Daily. Instead of airing her frustrations on an individual basis, she figured it would save time to just become a standup comic. Tuesday is also an actress, playing roles as diverse as a cockney maid, a white-trash mom and a flustered rich woman. Somehow, she is now a Vegan. Nobody is more disappointed than her. She can be seen in NYC, LA, and all over the Bay Area performing stand up, doing her one woman show or just talking to pigeons.
Laura Franzese co-producer is a San Francisco based comic. Her observational humor borderlines quirky and strange: from penguins watching documentaries about Morgan Freeman to hydrogen and oxygen molecules have a three-way, there is no telling what she will say next. She has performed to sold-out rooms at The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, Gotham Comedy Club in NYC, The Punch Line and Cobb's Comedy Club. She has told jokes alongside Jim Gaffigan, Laurie Kilmartin (CONAN) and ANT. She despises writing in the third person.
Samantha Gilweit is a single mother, failed pig farmer, and Southern California native currently living in Santa Rosa. When not covered in baby food and if childcare is available, she can be found telling total strangers the intimate details of her sex life at many different venues all over the Bay Area. Occasionally, she also tries to make jokes on Twitter @SamanthaGilweit.
Lalique d'Bruzzi has been delighting audiences throughout the Bay Area with her irreverent comedy and fresh take. With subject matter ranging from bawdy to intellectual, this local San Francisco comedienne is not to be missed.
Monica Mattson is the Mexican friend you never knew you wanted. She's originally from Southern California (which explains the valley girl accent), grew up in the Pacific Northwest (which explains all the cardigans), but now lives in SF. She had her LA Comedy Store debut last year and when she's not doing comedy she's busy copywriting and contributing to the first and only fake new women's magazine, The Reductress.
Ali Mafi our "honorary woman" of the evening may be the world's only gay Iranian comic, and he's certainly the funniest. Ali has had two television specials on the Logo Network, went on two nationwide tours, and has performed all around the world with Atlantis Events. The B.A.R. recently touted him a "True Revelation!" Ali is currently on tour with Aisha Tyler from “The Talk” on CBS.
Mary Van Note is a stand-up comedienne of the weird variety. She is the creator and star of the award winning Independent Film Channel web series "The Mary Van Note Show: Gavin Really Wants Me." She is a SF Weekly Masterminds grant recipient, a seven-time SF Sketchfest performer, and an Andy Kaufman Award Semi-Finalist. The San Francisco Bay Guardian called her a “Zine-Queen Comedian” as she regularly makes zines, crafts and mini-comics. Her specialties are stick-figures and cross-stitch. She also posts regularly on her personal style and comics blog at http://maryvannote.com/blog/
Michael Makarov As the "man" is a little bit of a nerd. He works for a tech company doing nerdy things such as math, meetings and work. He was born in Russia, and so he laughs at Yakov Smirnoff jokes. Because he spent so long time in Japan his Russian accent is organically mixed with a Japanese accent that gives you a rich flavor of a mysteriously sounding foreigner and a mysterious sense of humor. Michael likes arts. He plays jazz-funk and sometimes he plays concerts. Also he’s doing jujitsu to be able to quickly deal with drunk hecklers without thinking of a joke. He also likes hot chocolate and movies. Wait a second… Is this bio supposed to sound like a dating profile? Anyways, he considers himself pretty much straight and message him if you like going to Dolores park on a sunny weekend and get high...
Tracy Shapiro is an Oakland-based musician and comedian. She is single-handedly responsible for the emergence of the groundbreaking and boundary-pushing Riot Gal movement. Tracy’s courtship of music and comedy breeds a lively mélange of raise-the-roof rap ballads, cheeky punk-twanged compositions, not so ladylike confessionals, and stream of consciousness rambles. Tracy performs and tours regularly both as a solo musical comedy act and with her rock band, Steel Cranes. She is currently preparing for the debut of her one woman punk-rap opera in San Francisco later this year. Laugh until you bleed!
